Social Policy, Social Welfare and Social Protection

Social Policy is the foundation of inclusive governance and sustainable development. It encompasses the principles, laws, strategies, and interventions that governments and institutions use to improve the welfare and quality of life of individuals and communities. Effective social policies address poverty, inequality, unemployment, health, education, housing, social protection, gender equality, child welfare, disability inclusion, and the protection of vulnerable populations.

This course provides participants with a comprehensive understanding of social policy concepts, theories, frameworks, formulation processes, implementation strategies, and evaluation methods. Participants will examine how governments, civil society organizations, international agencies, and communities collaborate to develop policies that promote social justice, equity, inclusion, and human development.

The course also explores global best practices, international policy frameworks, evidence-based policy making, stakeholder engagement, financing of social programmes, monitoring and evaluation, and emerging challenges affecting social policy in developing and developed countries.

Through case studies, policy analysis exercises, simulations, and practical applications, participants will develop the competencies required to contribute effectively to social policy development, implementation, advocacy, and reform.
